Texas A&M Outdoor Adventures

Around November 2014 I was hired onto what I believe to be the best program at Texas A&M. Outdoor Adventures is a program through the university's recreation center and it includes the rock wall, bouldering wall, a rental center where leisure items like kayaks and tents can be rented, and a self maintenance bike garage called the bike hub. After venturing into this job I have come to learn a lot about what it take to be an effective communicator.

Within my scope of work at OA I have used communication to listen to others as they share their experiences and knowledge with me, work efficiently with customers, and also manage risk as confrontation is often necessary. Most importantly I have learned to manage confrontation. "Communication is key," is what I've always been told but communication is not really a key, its a skill. Throughout my experience with OA I have learned how to confront others in a approachable, friendly, yet stern manner that allows others to see the

superiority comes with my job and handling risk. I am so thankful to work for OA and cannot wait to see what else is in store for my knowledge bank.
